Purchasing Manager
Responsibilities
- Oversee all functions of the purchasing department including sourcing, purchasing, negotiate pricing, shipping and receiving of materials
- Ensure inquiries associated with orders are immediately addressed; shipment date, type of freight or material and other information in question
- Expedite shipping of materials to warehouse or to jobsite by calling vendors to advise how to ship the material and what date the material is expected for the job or for stock
- Communicate daily with project management group relative to any issues that might negatively impact customers’ satisfaction
- Effectively communicate with payables staff on invoicing issues
- Generate and manage reports relating to open purchase order lines and unpaid invoices
- Hire, train and develop staff as needed and manage personnel to include performance evaluations
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ideal experience will include a minimum of 5 years purchasing experience including 2-5 years of departmental oversight
- Computer proficiency required including strong background in MRP/ERP and/or bar-code systems
- Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact professionally with contacts, internal and external, at all levels and possess a high sense of urgency with exceptional problem solving skills
- Must be able to maintain and grow relationships with manufacturers and vendors to improve overall purchase costs
- Good understanding of the expediency required by aftermarket jobs and planning required by new construction jobs of several years duration
- Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
- Technical purchasing in the door/hardware or security industry using industry specific software a plus, but not required
- Highly prefer Bachelor’s degree
